ok
Success!

Great to see a detailed proposal - can't say I agree with it all, but at least a starting point. My comments:

1. Some minor additional residential areas are fine (and inevitable), as long as there is additional public transport to cope

2. Agree completely - prioritising a small number of boats vs a large number of commuters/public is crazy

3.4.5. No problems here, except the dry boat storage shed will by definition be godawful. See Pier35 in Melbourne for what we're in for.

6. Agree with renovating, disagree with the circus idea - not sure why you think this is more viable than a museum/restaurants etc? Darling Harbour is ideal for a tourist fun park - White Bay power station should be for residents (seems to be a novel concept in Sydney). I reckon a mix of residential, restaurants and some feature (e.g. theatre, museum etc) with a metro stop would be ideal. Agree the road/intersection needs redoing - why not direct access onto the bridge from the Balmain peninsula?

7.8. Agree here - I think any marine/significant commercial activities should be located and limited to Glebe Island - large space, away from residents, lots of dock area, a blank canvas

9. Prefer not, but would accept this as a tradeoff for the rest.

10.

11. Violent disagreement here, I'm afraid. Why on earth is a cruise ship terminal in Balmain a good idea? No-one on the ship has anything to do with Balmain, and they will all have to shuttle into the CBD. Barangaroo is and would be perfect, but the Govt took the money and acceded to developer demands. Even the cruise ship companies think it's a bad idea ("White Bay is a sub-optimal location," said Ann Sherry, the head of Carnival Australia... http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/cruise-terminals-move-to-white-bay-a-nightmare-for-residents/2009/01/28/1232818532082.html). A more radical but even better idea is move the navy to Newcastle (no need for them to be in Sydney at all) and put the cruise ship terminal at Garden Island. The latest ships can't get under the Harbour Bridge anyway, Newcastle needs the boost, and everybody would be happy, except the sailors who frequent Kings Cross.

12. I would put the Baileys terminal on Glebe Island with the Fish Market and major boat mooring - more convenient, and why not?

13. Agree here - current Fish market is a disaster but high potential - Glebe Island would be perfect, and the Pyrmont site is much more valuable for commercial/residential etc as it's close to the CBD and on the right side of the ANZAC bridge

Hopefully, this will kick off a rational debate, rather than moaning/barrow-pushing etc.

"}
